July 30th 2008 Daily Update

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I almost forgot to hit the publish button for yesterday. On to another day. Keeping track of what I’m doing has really helped me stay on track. I haven’t been this productive in the morning for weeks.

  • I responded to Poddy’s comment left on my first post by email, answering his question regarding Entrecard.
  • Took care of some customer emails and ordering for The Software Castle.
  • Signed up for Adtopic, I’m not sure about having another widget on Down On Our Luck. We’ll see what happens.
  • Checked my Big Crumbs account, like I do every morning.
  • Added a new friend at BlogCatalog, feel free to add me to your friend list.
  • Spent a little too much time on Catster looking to find friends for Bud. I think I spend way too much time networking for One Million Pet Pics, but I just can’t help myself. BTW, if you have a pet and a lens or website you’d like us to link to, visit our contact page and submit your favorite furry family member.
  • I kind of ran out of time for the morning, so I dropped Entrecards for 20 minutes.
  • For once I was able to get on the computer in the evening before falling asleep on the couch. I received an e-rewards survey that I took. I have already earned about $20 from their surveys. I redeemed $10 of that for a one year subscription to INC magazine. Hopefully I can find some time to read it, I seem to have a stack of mags piling up alongside my desk.
  • Didn’t get much done in the next hour after sitting down. I ended up finding Bud some friends on Catster and got tied up in sad pet stories. I don’t know what my problem is, I just can’t resist them.

July 29th 2008 Daily Update

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I’m up way too early this morning. Couldn’t sleep, thought I’d do something productive as opposed to laying on the couch till I fall asleep in a couple hours. I hope the hubby doesn’t wake up too early and bust me.

  • Started the day by checking my Big Crumbs stats. Two referrals today, one direct bringing me to 102. Also went through and read my messages.
  • Ended up trying to follow a conversation on Twitter; I should know better, it takes way too long. I did find 5 more people to follow though.
  • Completed a survey at e-rewards.com. Took about 10 minutes, made $2.50. This is the first survey site that I’ve joined which doesn’t jerk me around or send me 20 emails a day. I’ve already earned enough for a free 1 yr subscription to Inc magazine.
  • Spent way too much time reading about the lensrank fiasco on Sunday that I didn’t even notice. Maybe because I’m here to make money, most of which comes from affiliate commissions.
  • Read through JustBon’s Bottom 20 Lens. I think some of these lensmasters would freak if they saw the LR of my bottom lenses. I’m not real passionate about LR.
  • Ended up joining a couple of groups at Facebook and logging into Joe Popular for the first time ever. Added a little content and links to my blogs and a couple of lenses. Added a friend at BlogCatalog as well.
  • Added a bunch of friends on Digg; checked out what some of them were digging. Found a cool speedreading app.
  • Checked stats at Google Analytics.
  • Registered with Pepperjam network, waiting on approval.
  • Added Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos to my NFL Infant Jerseys. Checked store items for the Packers and Bears on this lens and updated the items along with adding “nofollow” tags to direct links. This is more work than I thought it would be. I have a gut feeling it will pay off in the long run.
  • Commented on Josh’s Unconventional Marketing Blog – Blogger Appreciation Week about having something nice said.
  • Split my Nintendo DS Skins lens in two, added a Pokemon Nintendo DS Skins lens to my portfolio.

On to a new day; time to hit the publish button.

A New Blog Post Followed by Entrecard Dropping

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

In my post about time management over at my Squidoo blog, I wrote about how I’ll be tracking the time I spend online here. Don’t worry, it won’t be a timeline, but I won’t be digging into why I did something either. If you want to know the why, please visit my Squidoo blog.

  • I started the day off by writing a new post about how I’ll be using this squidtop blog to earn some extra backlinks and manage my time a little better.
  • I then dropped 50 Entrecards for my Squidoo Blog. Ok, so I went a litte overboard and chain dropped from the first page of my inbox. That’s the danger of this little program. Ended up droping 91 cards.
  • Signed up for a Gravitar. Grr, bcarter is taken already.
  • Bookmarked moreniche.com while dropping. I wonder if I’ll get back to sign up.
  • Commented on Retroblog.com
  • Added Make Money Shopping to The Kingdom of Squid.
  • Checked my Big Crumbs stats and updated my spreadsheet. Not a referral anywhere for 3 days? I’ll have to do something about that. I’m loving the new facebook app they came up with
  • Yesterday I built a new lens for One Million Pet Pics; we’re always looking for more pets to feature if you’re interested. Our Squidoo lens isn’t much, but it’s another way to get the word out about our site.

That’s about it for the 28th of July.
